Since the beginning of the project in 2019, the Market-oriented Rice Development Project (MOReDeP) has fostered a number of local government officers as trainer on “Rice Production as a Business”. Utilizing such trainers, seven districts in Luapula province launched their own initiatives to provide training sessions to rice farmers with a plan to reach out to a total of 1,500 farmers in this farming season. Furthermore, those local governments began activities to try and establish a new mechanism to improve access to quality rice seeds by supporting local rice farmers produce and distribute quality seeds in their districts. We are looking forward to seeing them reaping a golden harvest soon.
