GOVERNMENT has distributed 17 motor cycles to the ministry of Agriculture in Southern Province to easy extension service delivery to farmers by Camp Extension Officers.

Southern Province Agricultural Coordinator Max CHOOMBE thanked government for the timely distribution of transport for the front line staff in the rural areas in the ministry.

Dr. CHOOMBE noted that the delivery of the additional motor cycles to the Province entails that 60 percent of the districts in Southern Province will be motorised.

He disclosed that from the total number of 322 Agricultural Camps in the Province there are 176 running motor cycles.

Dr. CHOOMBE was speaking at Lusumpuko House when he handed over the first consignment of motor cycles to Choma district.

He said the motor cycles will be distributed to various districts in the province to enable Camp Extension staff to be mobile.

Dr. CHOOMBE appealed to the recipient staff to take good care of the motor cycles and desist from abusing the donated transport.

And Choma District Senior Agricultural Officer Mabvuto PHIRI thanked the Province for allocating motor cycles to the district.

Mr. PHIRI assured the Provincial Agricultural Coordinator’s office that the motor cycles will be serviced regularly.

Meanwhile Maybin MWANSA an Agricultural Assistant for Kabanze Agricultural Camp says he will be able to discharge his duties well following the availability of transport that has been given to him.

Mr. MWANSA said he had a challenge of transport in the past as he was not mobile.
