Farmers in Mungwi District have commenced redeeming their inputs under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) eVoucher system, with this year’s exercise starting earlier than usual. The eVoucher modality allows farmers to choose inputs that suit their specific farming needs, offering flexibility and supporting improved agricultural outcomes.

Josephine Mulenga, a farmer from Mungwi East Camp, expressed her satisfaction with the process, highlighting the ease with which farmers are now able to access inputs. “Once we deposit our K400 contribution, there’s no need to collect further documentation, you just go straight to the input suppliers. It’s a very smooth process,” she remarked.

Input availability at local depots has been good, with depots fully stocked to meet demand. RK Wholesale depot manager Bornface Shula noted that the redeeming process was progressing efficiently and that they were geared to supply the required quantities of inputs. “The early start has been a game-changer. We are on track to complete the exercise well before the start of the rainy season,”Shula stated

Mungwi District Agricultural Coordinator (DACO), Cornelius Zemba, conducted on-the-spot checks at various redeeming sites to ensure compliance with FISP guidelines. He commended the smooth flow of the process and the preparedness of suppliers. “With Mungwi’s comparative advantage of good rains, we are optimistic that the district will yet again produce a bumper harvest, as this early distribution of inputs will result in early planting,” Zemba commented.

The early commencement of FISP activities this year, combined with farmers’ ability to easily redeem their chosen inputs, has generated optimism for another successful farming season in Mungwi District.
