The domestic trade branch of the department deals the coordination of phytosanitary activities with the country’s borders as well as the regulation of the movement of plants and plant products within the country. The aim is to prevent the spread of plant pests within the country while facilitating trade. The domestic trade branch is critical to ensuring the effective and efficient implementation of farm, nursery, fumigation, seed crop and commodity treatment inspections among others. There are three (3) units under this branch and these are: Phytosanitary Inspections Unit, Border Coordination and Quarantine Unit, and the Plant Pests Diagnostics and Laboratory Unit.
