Strengthening Climate Resilience of Agricultural Livelihoods in Agro-Ecological Regions I and II in Zambia(SCRALA)

The Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) through the support to the
Government of Zambia by the United Nations coalition involving
the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Food
and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and
the World Food Programme (WFP) and grant from Green Climate
Fund (GCF), working together with national institutions including
the Zambia Meteorological Department (ZMD), and the Water
Resources Management Authority (WARMA), is undertaking the
SCRALA project to strengthen the resilience to climate change
risks of the vulnerable smallholder farmers in the country’s AgroEconomic Regions I and II.
The project, valued at USD 137.5 million, is funded by the
Government of Zambia (USD USD 103.5 million), Green Climate
Fund (USD 32 million), and UNDP (USD 1.4 million).

Achievements in Numbers Supported

Supported 8,463 (57% women) farmers with inputs for goat rearing. 57%
Trained 129,414 (48% women) farmers in conservation agriculture. 48%
Supported 2,836 (42% women) farmers with inputs for bee keeping. 42%
FAO set up 249 Farmer Field School (FFS) and enhanced adaptation of climate change for 8,728 farmers (54% women). 54%
WFP trained 143,808 (49% women) farmers in post-harvest loss management 49%
