Government has put in place various incentives for the farmers to acquire various agricultural machinery and equipment. The incentives include reduced taxes of agricultural machinery. Matching grants and the setting up of a scheme under the public service microfinance.Minister of Agriculture hon Micheal Katambo urged the civil servants to utilize the window under the public service microfinance to acquire agricultural machinery for their farms.He was speaking in a speech read on his behalf by director of Agriculture Peter Lungu at the launch of Agriculture Machinery road show in Lusaka. Mr Katambo said mechanization of agricultural production systems can help to improve and enhance the productivity of the agriculture sector.
Mr Katambo added that through agricultural mechanization farmers can diversify their production and add value to their primary agricultural commodities.Mr katambo further urged farmers to not only produce but also to add value to their produce through value addition of various crops.
