Kasempa district in North Western province has received K5, 600, 000 for farmers who are supplying their produce to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) for the 2020 marketing season.
National Savings and Credit Bank (NATSAVE) Kasempa Branch Manager Webster Maskini said government has through the FRA released the initial disbursement of K5, 600,000 for farmers who are supplying the produce to the agency.
He said that the bank has put all the modalities in place and is ready to pay farmers immediately.
And Kasempa District Administrative Officer Tulani Mwiya has called on farmers to take advantage of the increased number of satellite depots from 14 to 25 depots and supply the maize grain to the FRA.
Mr. Mwiya further added that government is offering the best prevailing price on the market of one hundred and ten kwacha as opposed to below one hundred that most players are offering.
Mr. Mwiya also disclosed that the FRA in Kasempa district has been mandated to buy 462, 000 by 50 kg bags of white maize
