The Ministry of Agriculture has been recognized as one of the country’s best-performing public institutions after scooping two prestigious awards at the 2026 Africa Public Service Day Service Excellence Awards.
The Ministry won First Prize in the Most High Performing Public Institution Category and Second Prize in the Community Champion Award Category, a recognition that highlights its outstanding contribution to public service delivery, agricultural development and community empowerment.
The awards were presented during the Africa Public Service Day commemorations organized by Cabinet Office under the Office of the President.
Ministry of Agriculture Permanent Secretary (Technical Services), Mr. John Mulongoti, has described the achievement as a significant step that reflects the Ministry’s dedication to delivering quality services to farmers and contributing to national development.
Mr. Mulongoti said the recognition was a result of the collective efforts of Ministry staff, stakeholders and farming communities who continue to support Government’s agricultural transformation agenda.
He noted that through various initiatives, including the promotion of climate-smart agriculture, irrigation development, mechanization, extension services and the development of drought-resistant crop varieties, the Ministry has continued to strengthen food security and improve livelihoods across the country.
